According to Reuters news from the EU's top management, EU member states agreed on Thursday (April 4) to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese ceramic tableware. The relevant measures will take effect on May 13. The European Commission has accused a number of Chinese companies of dumping ceramic tableware to EU countries at low or even lower prices. Since November 2012, they have imposed temporary tariffs of 17.6% to 58.8% on these Chinese products.
At that time, most EU member states opposed such measures, but on Thursday, the European Commission lowered the tax rate to 13.1% to 36.1%, and this anti-dumping measure was passed. The relevant tariff measures are usually valid for 5 years.
At present, the EU is China's largest trading partner. According to data from the European Commission, in 2011, the EU imported 728 million euros of ceramic tableware from China.
