De-Clean Shows Equipment for Synthesizing Liquid Fuels from Water and Carbon Dioxide
A few days ago, German clean technology company Sunfire GmbH demonstrated a device that can convert water and carbon dioxide into petroleum fuel. It is reported that the company used a technology called "Power-to-Liquid" that can synthesize water and carbon dioxide into liquid hydrocarbons - synthetic gasoline, diesel and kerosene. It is understood that Sunfire GmbH uses a technology based on a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process combined with a solid oxide electrolytic cell (SOEC). It is reported that SOEC generates hydrogen through electrolysis reaction. This kind of gas can generate carbon monoxide in the reaction with carbon dioxide. At this time, carbon monoxide and hydrogen can be made into liquid fuels through the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process. The heat generated in this process can be reused in the SOEC reaction, so as to achieve the purpose of improving efficiency. Sunfire said that the current equipment can not be directly put into process production, it also needs more tests and adjustments. It is reported that this device can now dispose of nearly 3.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide per day and can generate a barrel of fuel.
