Taiyo Yuden Launches High-end SMD Power Inductors Using Metal Magnetic Materials

Taiyo Electric Co., Ltd. announced on September 30, 2015 that a new product "MCOIL ME Series" was introduced in the "MCOIL Series", a power supply chip inductor (metallic power inductor) made of metallic magnetic materials. The characteristics are the highest in the MCOIL series.

The MCOIL ME series is a wound inductor and is intended for use as a choke coil for power circuits in digital products such as smart phones and wearable devices. In addition to using new-generation materials, the new products also maintain high DC overlap characteristics by improving process technology, reducing iron loss and improving efficiency. The dimensions are 2.0mm x 1.6mm x 1.0mm.

MCOIL ME series currently has 3 products. The "MEKK2016TR47M" has an inductance of 0.47μH, a DC resistance of 30mΩ (maximum), a DC overlap allowable current of 4.5mA (max), and a temperature rise allowable current of 4.3mA. "MEKK2016T1R0M" has an inductance of 1.0μH, a DC resistance of 60mΩ (maximum), a DC overlapping allowable current value of 3.6mA (max), and a temperature rise allowable current value of 3.1mA. "MEKK2016T2R2M" has an inductance of 2.2μH, a DC resistance of 150mΩ (maximum), a DC overlap allowable current of 2.4mA (max), and a temperature rise allowable current of 1.9mA.

The new product is now in volume production and the sample price is 50 yen. In addition, Taiyo Yuden will exhibit new products at the "CEATEC JAPAN 2015" opening at the Makuhari Messe Convention and Exhibition Center on October 7th. (Reporter: Yutaro Kojima)
