Application of Automatic Welding Technology in Structural Parts of Hydropower Equipment

1 Overview

The welded structural parts in the hydro-generator set are mostly large-scale components, which not only have a large amount of weld deposit, but also have high requirements on the quality of the weld. The traditional welding of our factory is CO2 semi-automatic gas shielded welding, which often depends on the technical level of the welder. The automatic welding adopts automatic control device and mechanical device to replace the manual operation in the welding operation. It has good stability and can get rid of the welder level. Dependence. The use of automatic welding can significantly improve production efficiency, save wire and labor costs, improve working conditions and reduce labor intensity. Therefore, in the environment of promoting low energy consumption, it is of practical significance to strive to promote automatic welding technology in the welding process of structural parts of hydropower equipment.

2. Application of submerged arc welding in flat welds

Submerged arc welding is a method in which an electric arc is used as a heating source to fuse the welding wire with a base metal. During the welding process, the welding wire is covered with a layer of meltable flux, without visible arc and welding splash (see Figure 1).

Submerged arc welding can be used for welding flanges such as flange welds and fixed guide vanes. The submerged arc welding not only has a fast welding speed, but also has a efficiency of 3 to 5 times that of CO2 semi-automatic gas shielded welding. And it has no welding arc, the weld appearance is beautiful (see Figure 2), the operator has low labor intensity and so on.
