Jiugang began to implement flat management in 2002, and the establishment and management team of the company were all thin, but it also brought some practical difficulties to the training of technical personnel. “A steel mill of more than 1,000 people only has seven or eight technicians and four or five management personnel. Entering the stainless steel cold-rolling plant of Jiuquan Steel, only a few workers in the large factory are operating in an orderly manner. Currently, Jiuquan has formed an annual production scale of 1 million tons of stainless steel, 1.5 million tons of carbon steel cold-rolled, and 750,000 tons of carbon steel galvanized sheet. These high-value-added products have gradually come to market and gained recognition. He Xuebing, the director of the Department of Management, introduced that the proportion of high-value-added products in the old JISCO accounted for only 18%, and now it has increased to 47%.

In the new wall material factory of Jiuquan Jirui Renewable Resources Co., Ltd., neat rows of autoclaved bricks are eye-catching. They are made from slag and fly ash that were used as waste in the past. According to reports, Jiu Steel now produces 3 million pieces of autoclaved bricks each month, and more than 300,000 tons of fly ash are reused every year.

As the largest steel company in the northwestern region, Jiuquan has great potential in developing a recycling economy and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction. In 2009, the company produced 6.36 million tons of various types of solid waste, with a utilization of 1.3 million tons, and the overall utilization rate was only 20.46%. It is estimated that by 2020, the comprehensive utilization rate of solid waste will reach more than 90%.
