Overall, the higher the frequency, the stronger the flexibility of a single-edged drill. Since the vibration force of the vibrator is maintained at a constant level, it can be said that the deflection of the drill tool over a large frequency range is also strong. In addition to the use of hollow drill rods, the single-edge drill has a large length-to-diameter ratio, which reduces the rigidity of the drill and increases the risk of the drill breaking and the vibration amplitude increasing. A detailed evaluation of the modal experimental analysis of the individual measurement points shows that different vibrations in the longitudinal and transverse directions of the drill spindle also produce lower flexibility frequencies in the frequency range of 50 to 60 Hz. For a single-edged drill of two different diameters, a detailed list of measured modes and modes of vibration is shown in the table below.

The experimental results show that the dynamic performance of the system can be clearly described for different single-edged drills. By measuring the knowledge of bending vibrations and torsional vibrations, an adaptive adjustment system can be developed in the future to adjust for dangerous working vibrations. Pay particular attention to the occurrence of the identified torsional vibrations, as this can result in a significant reduction in tool life and possible tool failure.

The modal parameters of a single-edged drill can be quickly and reliably measured with a laser scanning vibrometer. The results show that the distinction between bending self-vibration and torsional vibration can be achieved. In this regard, it is necessary to select a matrix of measurement points on the surface of the drill. The self-generated frequencies appearing in the flexible frequency range are almost the same in both vibration directions. In addition to the ability to reliably measure modal parameters, the laser scanning vibrometer can also visualize the form of vibration. By this measure, the jamming process of the single-edged drill on the wall of the hole can be clarified. In addition, an adaptive adjustment system can be designed which recognizes dangerous operating vibrations and can be adjusted. In this regard, it is necessary to grasp the understanding of the vibration of the work that occurs during the drilling process. The goal of the next phase of the study was to identify the individual vibration modes of the single-edged drill to understand the load and deformation of the tool during the drilling process.
